ICA San José is excited to debut Stephanie Dinkins: Data Trust, a participatory AI-based immersive experience that reimagines how memory, land, and technology intersect.
Commissioned through the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions, Data Trust challenges dominant paradigms of AI development and proposes poetic, community-centered alternatives. Multigenerational stories from often-overlooked communities are encoded into bacterial DNA and embedded into soil, turning natural materials into living, evolving keepers of knowledge.
Explore the installation’s immersive projections, animated by real-time generative AI responding to shared stories. Enjoy sculptural seating designed to foster gathering, reflection, and conversation—creating a welcoming space for connection and storytelling.
