Afterlife

November 7, 2009 by SJICA

Afterlife

November 7, 2009 – January 23, 2010

Guest curated by Kathryn Funk, Afterlife is a group exhibition of works created to breathe new life into re-purposed materials and objects.

Artists include: Claudia Borgna, Mark Fox Morgan, Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor, Lisa Kokin, Charlotte Kruk, Robert Larson, Scott Oliver, Beverly Rayner, Kathryn Spence, and Ann Weber.

In this group exhibition guest curated by Kathryn Funk, artists transform cast off materials into works of art. Employing everyday items that would ordinarily be thrown into the void of a landfill – like cigarette packages, cardboard boxes, old furniture and candy wrappers- the artists give these objects a new life that is imbued with meaning and cultural significance.
