SJICA Community: Tell Us What You Think

Take the Survey

Why this Survey?

We need your insights to continue building a better SJICA

We are asking you to participate in this annual survey because as a member of SJICA we value your opinions and perspectives, and we believe that your insights will help us continue building a better organization. The survey will take only a few minutes, yet it will be invaluable in helping us understand what is important to you, so we can work towards delivering the best possible experience for our community.

A special thank you from our Executive Director

I really couldn’t be more proud of the progress we’ve made recently, thanks to so many of you. Foregrounding the voices of local artists, we’re evolving the nature of our programs and exhibitions, as we continue to provide a free and welcoming place for San José and the greater Bay Area community. We want to continue improving how we serve our community, which is why is so important to hear from you. We know your time is valuable, so thank you for investing it in the work we do.

Please take a few moments and share your thoughts with us. And good luck in the raffle!

James G. Leventhal

Executive Director

Upcoming Regional Art Tour

Changemakers Circle members are eligible to join the SJICA travel program which includes an array of local and regional tours throughout the year. Here’s an upcoming example:

San José Art Day: Women Artists Pushing Boundaries
Saturday, January 20, 2024

The day will begin with an exclusive tour of the San José State University (SJSU) Foundry facility with SJSU Digital Media Art professor Rhonda Holberton and foundry staff.

Holberton’s work was featured recently in the SJICA’s David Pace gallery with a critically acclaimed installation this past spring. Holberton’s work has consistently pushed the boundaries of how we understand what and how art is produced, most recently developing new art forms using Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) tools.

Following our visit to the foundry, we will head to see San José based artist Stephanie Metz, whose 2019 SJICA exhibition, Figurative Fiber, was a glimpse into Metz’s approach to bringing wonder to life through unexpected and unique techniques, such as felting. In her studio we will explore new experiments in body forms and unexplainable shapes.

We will end the day with a special tour of the San José Museum of Art’s presentation of Liliana Porter: Actualidades / Breaking News. Another not-to-be-missed experience, this exhibition is the artist’s first solo presentation at a museum on the West Coast. Porter’s works are wonders for the eye, and food for the soul.
