Talking Art: Spinning Songs with Taro Hattori

Sunday, July 8, 2018 2-5pm

ON YOUR LEFT

JUNE 23 – SEPTEMBER 16, 2018

Talking Art and Participatory Singing/Spinning, Sunday, July 8, 2pm-5pm

In conjunction with ‘On Your Left’, artist Taro Hattori invites you to participate in “Leitmotif,” an ongoing participatory piece originally created during his residency at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. By turning the pedal of an upside-down bicycle wheel, participants will be invited to sing a song in memory of someone. By spinning the wheels in place, Hattori’s piece contemplates the cyclical nature of memory.

Over the course of the exhibition, Hattori will call on participants of all talent levels to contribute to this ongoing project – whether you only sing in the car or shower, or your sing on Broadway – he wants you to sing and spin!

See past song spinners here.

Save the date for another chance to participate on Saturday, September 1, 2pm-5pm
