Celebrate the opening of Greg Ito’s To Give and Take at the ICA on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 6-9pm.
Featuring new paintings, sculptures, and a video installation alongside previous works, the exhibition brings together Ito’s signature graphic style and surreal, shifting environments. Drawing from Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree, Ito explores themes of generational sacrifice, resilience, family, and what we carry forward. Trees recur throughout the work as symbols of ancestry, shelter, labor, and survival, while painted worlds move between domestic spaces and changing landscapes where time feels compressed and overlapping.
There will be a members-only artist talk led by curator Zoë Latzer from 5–6pm, followed by an opening reception from 6–9pm with food and drinks included.
